After many months of Mums like myself complaining, emailing, telephoning attending meetings... to Tameside Council regarding improvements to Haughton Green Park, it seems that we now have in writing a response and a positive start to making our park better! Please see letter below.
Dear Eleanor, ....The start date for the various improvement works at Haughton Green.
Contractors will be on site from Wednesday 24th September. The proposed work includes:
*Creating a hard standing area under the notice board at the main entrance
* Removal of the old wet pour tiles and re surfacing with tarmac
* Removal of the old notice board posts
*New safety surface and guard rails to the existing slide. We did consider removing the slide but the costs to do this would be prohibitive. The contractors are confident they can re vamp the old slide
* The floodlights around the MUGA have had replacement lamps fitted recently as the existing lamps were corroded.
*Cleaning and painting of the gates and fencing to the main entrance – this will start this week
During the winter months we will be looking at native tree planting to soften the fence lines and create a diversity of habitats. The dead memorial tree will also be replaced during this period.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss the above or any other matters.
